We have integrated the most up-to-date technology to aid in our daily shipping and receiving. Following are several examples.
First, our Accounting/Order Entry computers are integrated with our shipping computers. Picking tickets are printed with a barcode. This barcode is read by the shipping system which then pulls all ship to information from the Order Entry computer. This system reduces errors that could arise by retyping the recipient`s address into the shipping system.
Second, we use 12 foot steel shelves to utilize the height of our warehouse. With our fork lifts, we are able to maneuver pallets of merchandise on to, and off of the racks. Third, we use rolling shelves to pick orders. This allows us to pick several orders at a time.
Fourth, we`ve installed a conveyor system between the packing station and the shipping station. After the item is put in a box with the packing material, the box is placed on the conveyor belt. Once it reaches the shipping station, we use a handheld scanner to scan the barcode on the pick ticket to create a shipping label.
And lastly, it is sent through the automatic tape machine, which tapes both the top and bottom of the box. Therewith, saving man power and time transporting boxes to another location and taping them manually. After taping, the boxes collect on a rolling conveyor for stacking and shrink wrapping on a pallet. From there the wrapped pallets are loaded onto a trailer which awaits pickup at the end of every business day.
